White-sand islands, overwater villas and water so clear it doesn’t look real — the Maldives is the most requested honeymoon destination at Beond Journeys, and for good reason. It’s also one of the easiest international trips an Indian couple can take. Here’s everything you need to plan it right.
Visa & Entry: The Easiest International Trip You’ll Ever Take
Indian passport holders get a free visa on arrival for up to 30 days — no paperwork before you fly. You just need a passport valid for at least 6 months, a confirmed hotel booking, a return ticket, and the Maldives IMUGA traveller declaration filled online within 96 hours before your flight (we handle this for all our guests). Direct flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kochi reach Malé in as little as 2.5–4.5 hours.
Best Time to Go
November to April is the dry season — sunny days, calm turquoise water, perfect for the classic Maldives photos. December–January is peak (book 2–3 months ahead). May to October brings occasional rain showers but also noticeably lower resort prices — a smart choice if you’re flexible, since showers usually pass within an hour.
How to Choose Your Resort
In the Maldives, the resort IS the holiday — each resort is its own private island. Three things matter most:
- Transfer type: Resorts near Malé use speedboats (15–45 min, cheaper). Farther resorts need a seaplane (scenic, unforgettable, but adds cost and only operates in daylight).
- Villa type: Beach villas give you a garden and direct sand access; overwater villas are the bucket-list experience. Many couples split the stay — beach villa first, overwater for the finale.
- Meal plan: On a private island you’ll eat every meal at the resort — half board, full board or all-inclusive almost always works out cheaper than paying per meal.

What to Pack
- Light cottons, swimwear and flowy outfits for photos (the Maldives is very relaxed — no formal wear needed)
- Reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat — the equatorial sun is strong
- Waterproof phone pouch and a power bank for excursion days
- Any medication you need — the resort island will only have basics
Honeymoon Tips From Our Couples
- Tell the resort it’s your honeymoon — most offer complimentary cakes, room décor or spa discounts (our packages build these in).
- Book the sunset dolphin cruise and one floating breakfast — the two most-loved experiences across all our couples.
- Don’t over-schedule. Two excursions across a 4-night stay is plenty; the villa is the destination.
- Carry a few US dollars for tips; resorts accept cards for everything else.
